A tax associate with 3-6 years of substantial renewable energy project finance transactional experience at a major law firm.  The candidate must have experience representing sponsors, investors and/or tax credit buyers in tax equity and tax credit transfer transactions with respect to solar, wind, or energy storage project assets.  

Wilson Sonsini’s ECS Practice Group is unique in its mission-driven focus on clean energy and climate-friendly related projects, technologies, and business models, representing disruptors and innovators and those who finance them.  Attorneys in the ECS group pioneered the utility-scale wind and solar industries, helped create residential solar, energy storage, and EV industries, and are working with project developers and sponsors in a broad range of clean technologies from solar, wind and battery storage to nuclear, hydrogen, and carbon capture, utilization and sequestration projects throughout the United States and abroad. 

Our ECS team is located in our Boston, DC, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle offices and would welcome attorneys who want to join the team in those offices and advance our mission. 

Associates and counsel will have an opportunity to work closely with experienced partners and senior lawyers who can provide active mentoring and to be part of a collaborative team of attorneys focused on clean energy and climate solutions sectors. You will be given the opportunity to assume a high level of responsibility and client contact with companies ranging from start-ups to the world’s leading international infrastructure investors. You will have the opportunity to gain a wide range of tax experience working with some of the project finance industry’s leading and most innovative companies.

Strong drafting, negotiating and financial model review skills, as well as superior academic credentials, excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, and Subchapter K proficiency are required.

  • Salary range of $260,000 – $390,000, based on year classification.
  • Discretionary merit bonuses may also be awarded.
