Wilson Sonsini’s tax practice encompasses all areas of U.S. federal and UK tax law for technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises at all stages of development. The firm provides representation to companies and funds in conjunction with its mergers and acquisitions practice, which involves a wide range of U.S., UK and cross-border transactions, including public and private acquisitions, management and leveraged buyouts, corporate restructurings, spinoffs, recapitalizations, and joint ventures.
In addition, the team counsels clients on domestic and international tax planning for corporate transactions, including equity and debt financings, IPOs and tender or exchange offers, and advises founders, investors, and companies regarding the “qualified small business stock” exemption under Section 1202 of the Internal Revenue Code.

We are looking for a tax associate with 3-6 years of substantial renewable energy project finance transactional experience at a major law firm. You must have experience representing sponsors, investors and/or tax credit buyers in tax equity and tax credit transfer transactions with respect to solar, wind, or energy storage project assets. Associates will have an opportunity to work closely with experienced lawyers who provide active mentoring and to be part of a collaborative team of attorneys. You will be given the opportunity to assume a high level of responsibility and client contact as well as gain a wide range of tax experience working with some of the project finance industry’s leading and most innovative companies.

Our London office is seeking a solution-focused team player with a flexible mindset and the ability to clearly and confidently communicate. You will build relationships working directly with clients as well as while providing support to our other teams. Requiring technical knowledge of all areas of tax law relevant to M&A transactions (at the corporate and individual level) and international business structuring, and experience of tax advisory work and transactional support, the ideal candidate will be able to explain tax issues at a number of levels – switching comfortably between explaining these in pure commercial terms to investors and founders and engaging in detailed technical discussion with in-house tax team members. Your work will involve M&A transactions, venture capital finance, international business structuring for clients which are highly internationally mobile, UK/US advisory work in conjunction with the US tax practice, and funds tax.
