The Business Development and Marketing Manager specializes in Life Sciences. They proactively generate and support business development and marketing opportunities for select partners within the Firm’s Life Sciences practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with the Director of Business Development to create and implement strategic plans tailored to the Life Sciences group, working closely with group partners and lead associates.
- Proactively research and identify growth-stage life sciences companies for client targeting initiatives and pipeline development, while seeking opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships.
- Work alongside various Practice, Client, and Industry teams to enhance business development initiatives across practice groups and support services, focusing on strategic marketing and client needs.
- Oversee the preparation of compelling RFP responses in partnership with the Pitch/Proposal team.
- Create research materials and presentation documents for attorneys’ pitches, events, client meetings, and other business development activities.
- Provide comprehensive business intelligence on the life sciences market, including insights into clients, prospects, competitors, and key stakeholders.
- Assist partners in managing their contacts, ensuring they remain top-of-mind with priority clients, and track ongoing business development efforts using Salesforce.
- Evaluate and manage relationships with ecosystem partners, events, organizations, and sponsorships relevant to the life sciences sector.
- Secure speaking engagements at pertinent events and coordinate with attending partners to generate quality leads and track ROI.
- Support the Events team with pre-planning and production of events.
- Actively contribute as a supportive team member across the department and other administrative areas, serving as a mentor, training resource, and effective leader.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; MBA, JD, or equivalent work experience is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in a top-tier law firm, investment bank, venture capital firm, private equity firm, accounting firm, or similar environment, with a focus on life sciences.
- Advanced skills in market research and analysis, particularly within the life sciences sector.
- Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to understand the needs and expectations of attorneys and clients, as well as how marketing and business development can drive revenue.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to working with senior rainmakers in their pursuit of new business.
- Must be a self-starter who excels in managing multiple high-visibility projects under tight deadlines and remains composed under pressure.
The primary location for this job posting is in Palo Alto, but other locations may be listed. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows:
San Francisco and Silicon Valley: $131,750 – $178,250 per year
The compensation for this position may include a discretionary year-end merit bonus based on performance. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
