We handle trade secret, patent, copyright, and other technology-centered commercial disputes for Silicon Valley’s largest companies and cutting-edge start-ups. We have advanced the law repeatedly in key areas. We try cases. Candidates must have excellent academic credentials, as well as top-notch writing, speaking, fact development, and legal research skills. We work collaboratively and seek candidates to learn and run cases. We prioritize early responsibility and leadership opportunities on our case teams.

Join Wilson Sonsini’s ECVC practice focusing on the investors who support emerging growth businesses! You will lead financing transactions and interact directly with our investor-side clients. We are looking for a senior candidate with a demonstrated interest in these growth industries who has at least 6 years of ECVC experience focused primarily on investor-side work.
As part of this investor-side “SWAT team,” you will foster relationships with institutional investors funding private technology and life sciences companies. From seed funds to the Sand Hill Road giants to pension plans and sovereign wealth funds, your work will focus on the financing of high growth businesses at all stages of their development. As part of these transactions, you will work on Preferred Stock financings with both seed-stage start-ups and pre-IPO unicorns—often on the same day.
Clients in this practice group represent a diverse range of industries, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, autonomous vehicles, digital health and wellness, life sciences, electronic gaming, and fintech, among other emerging and disruptive technologies.

You will draft and prosecute patent applications, prepare patent opinion letters and provide IP counseling to clients as well as supervise junior attorneys and patent agents. We want to hear from you if you have 1-4 years of patent prosecution law firm experience, patent bar membership, and a background in one of the following fields: cell or molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, organic chemistry, biophysics, or digital health focused disciplines.

Our nationally recognized tax attorneys leverage their wide-ranging expertise in federal, state, and international tax law to advise innovative and dynamic clients throughout their stages of development. Our team works closely with the M&A practice on a myriad of domestic and international transactions as well as counsels clients on tax planning. Be a part of this fast-paced, engaging team. You will need at least 5 years of tax experience and to be a strong communicator. Associates learn from the best through early, hands-on experience and comprehensive training and development opportunities. You will work with the firm's clients and counsel in all aspects of the patent practice, including assisting in evaluating invention disclosures, drafting patent specifications and claims, preparing and prosecuting applications, and working on proceedings in the State Intellectual Property Office (“SIPO”). If you have 3+ years of experience in patent prosecution, strong communication skills in both English and Mandarin, a license to practice before SIPO and a masters level degree or higher in biology, chemistry, bioengineering, or similar life sciences field, we want to hear from you. We also value your exposure to a wide array of technologies and/or experience in appeal and invalidation proceedings.
