Health and Wellness

The health and wellness of our employees is a top priority.

A career in the legal industry is a demanding one, and it can be incredibly difficult to strike a balance between your career and your life outside the office.

At Wilson Sonsini, we’re committed to helping everyone here achieve a quality of life that’s satisfying, healthy, and productive.

Wilson Sonsini has been an annual signatory of the ABA’s Well-Being Pledge since 2018, the first year it was available. The Well-Being Pledge calls on legal employers to recognize that substance use and mental health problems represent a significant challenge for the legal profession and acknowledge that more can and should be done to improve the health and well-being of those in the legal community. Additionally, we support and prioritize the Pledge’s seven-point framework for building a better future. Through the programs listed below and many others, we provide substantial support for employee well-being and mental health, and we are committed to reducing substance abuse disorders in the legal community.

We offer a broad range of wellness-related benefits and resources to help employees sustain a healthy lifestyle and balance work-life considerations while also achieving financial security and a successful career.

I made partner as a part-time associate. I was a part-time partner for several years and, as my kids have gotten older, I have switched recently to being full-time again.

But every step of the way, my members, my group and the firm has been really supportive and working with me to figure out what kind of schedule I need and ways that I can contribute to the group while maintaining that reduced schedule.

Flexible Work Arrangements

Because we recognize that every employee has a unique set of circumstances, we provide exceptional flexibility when it comes to remote work and work schedules, in addition to a formal part-time policy.

Wellness Reimbursement Program

We offer a monthly wellness reimbursement program—which can be applied to gym memberships, mindfulness subscriptions, personal training sessions, sports and fitness equipment, and more—to support healthy lifestyle choices.

Emotional Support Program

Through Ginger, employees and their dependents 13 and older receive free, virtual access to coaching and behavioral health specialists from the privacy and convenience of their smartphone, whenever they need it.

Coaches are available 24/7, and all conversations are completely confidential. Employees have unlimited access to coaching via text-based chats and self-care activities, and video-based therapy and psychiatry services are covered up to 12 sessions per person each year.

Employee Assistance Program

We also offer a separate employee assistance program that provides  free, confidential support to employees and their family members.

Licensed professional counselors are available to provide counseling on stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family concerns, substance abuse, anger, grief, loss, or life transitions.

They are also available to provide emergency help 24/7 in crisis situations.

Wellness @ Wilson Affinity Group

The firm’s Wellness @ Wilson employee affinity group supports mental health and well-being by encouraging open conversations about the challenges we all face.

Free Flu Shots

We offer on-site flu shot clinics in the majority of our offices every year. Flu shots are available to employees and their family members at no cost.

Career Coaching

Through Talking Talent, Wilson offers a career coaching program for expecting or working parents. You can receive up to 4 hours of action-oriented coaching in either 30 or 60-minute sessions over the phone.

CPR/AED Training

Automatic Electronic Defibrillators (AEDs) are installed throughout the Wilson Sonsini US offices. Training to use these devices, along with CPR certification, are regularly offered to employees.

Webinars, Fitness, and Mindfulness Classes

Wilson Sonsini offers on-demand and live webinars, fitness classes, and mindfulness classes through Espresa, an app available to all employees on our intranet. Webinars offered by our benefits vendors cover a wide range of topics such as financial wellness, mental well-being, and caregiving resources. Classes are offered in such categories as core conditioning, martial arts, meditation, dance, yoga, and strength conditioning.

Pet Insurance

Health and wellness isn’t just for the two-legged members of our families! Wilson Sonsini offers voluntary pet insurance through Nationwide, which allows you to use any licensed veterinarian. Rates are based on your pet’s age and breed.
