The survey includes interview-based research and questions answered by associates on various aspects of firm life, ranging from relationships with partners and clients to diversity and pro bono efforts. The rankings reflect a combination of factors that can determine job satisfaction, including stress and mental health, career development, and retention.
Chambers Associate describes the firm’s client base as “unmatched in tech,” noting that Wilson Sonsini has been awarded top honors by Chambers USA in multiple categories. Associates expressed satisfaction with the work culture, observing that “the social life is there if you want it” and despite the number of billable hours, “everything that surrounds it is a great work/life balance” and associates rarely have to put in extensive work on weekends. According to the guide, work allocation often varies depending on location and practice groups, with associates noting that they can highlight matters of interest to them and not take on work they’re not interested in. One interviewee commented, “Coming from my previous firm, Wilson does a much better job of supporting associates in a difficult job.”
