The Energy & Climate Solutions Group at Wilson Sonsini is looking for an energy regulatory lawyer to join its Washington, D.C. office as a 2nd-6th year associate with experience on FERC and other energy regulatory matters related to independent power producers, large power consumers, demand response and grid-edge companies, and developers of energy transmission infrastructure. We hire lawyers who share our mission to address energy and climate issues through applying a broad skill set, independent thought, and deal-making creativity to assist clients with their most pressing and consequential energy regulatory matters.
Candidates should understand, and have experience related to the Federal Power Act, including RTO/ISO market design, Section 203 applications, Section 205 rate filings, Section 206 complaints, energy market compliance and enforcement issues, PURPA, and FERC’s regulation of generation interconnection and energy transmission infrastructure development as well as the writing and research skills to craft persuasive FERC pleadings. Candidates must have excellent writing and research skills and the ability to apply those skills to craft persuasive FERC pleadings. Familiarity with RTO/ISO stakeholder processes, ERCOT Nodal Protocols, and state-level regulation and advocacy would be valued, but is not required.
Superior academic credentials, FERC and/or law firm experience, and excellent advocacy and interpersonal skills are required.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range of $235,000 – $390,000, based on year classification.
