Wilson Sonsini’s Corporate Department is seeking a Senior Business Development Analyst that will be responsible for supporting the execution of the marketing and business development plans for the Energy & Climate Solutions (E&CS) group. The role reports to the Director of Business Development for the Corporate Department.
The position’s core function is to provide essential tactical support to the fast-paced Business Development team that drives business development and marketing for the firm’s Energy & Climate Solutions (E&CS) practice. This is a terrific opportunity for an experienced business development professional with an interest in and passion for gaining more exposure to the rapidly expanding new energy ecosystem and high-growth technology and life sciences companies.
Responsibilities:
At the direction of the Director of Business Development for the Corporate Department:
- Implement marketing and business development plans, including client targeting programs, client teams, and pursuit teams for the E&CS practice
- Identify and support cross-practice and cross-region opportunities and collaborate with attorneys and marketing colleagues to drive marketing and business development plans to exploit those opportunities
- Conduct in-depth research on markets, technologies, companies, and individuals for practice groups, industry groups, and other initiatives
- Support the Business Development team’s pitch tracking and league table reporting activities
- Help track and maintain key attorney matters for the experience database
- Participate in the successful production and execution of client events, speaking engagements, and sponsorships, including analyzing attendee lists, preparing tailored materials, supporting attorney follow-up, and tracking outcomes and activities in the CRM system
- Build and maintain relationships with appropriate organizations and vendors to maximize engagement and client development efforts
- Develop regular internal communications highlighting the practice and key deals and trends in the marketplace
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of experience in related field. (Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered)
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Law firm or professional services experience is strongly preferred
- Strong customer service ethic
- Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written
- Extremely detail-oriented, with superior proofreading and fact checking skills
- Efficient, highly organized and ability to stay productive under pressure with tight deadlines
- Must be proficient in the use of MS Office including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
- Aptitude for learning new software, systems, databases, and procedures quickly
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
- Self-motivated, positive attitude, and a deep curiosity about technology, life sciences, and the new energy economy
- Ability to travel and attend key events and meetings on occasion
The primary location for this job posting is in Palo Alto, but other locations are also listed. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows:
San Francisco and Silicon Valley: $76,500 – $103,500 per year
Austin, Boston, Boulder, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, Seattle, and Wilmington: $68,850 – $93,150 per year
Salt Lake City and all other locations: $61,200 – $82,800 per year
The compensation for this position may include a discretionary year-end merit bonus based on performance. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
