The firm’s Corporate Department is seeking a Business Development Analyst that will be responsible for supporting the execution of the marketing and business development plans for the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Public Company Representation (Public Company) practices. The role reports to the Business Development Manager for M&A and Public Company practices.

The position’s core function is to provide essential tactical support to the fast-paced Business Development team that drives business development and marketing for the firm’s M&A and Public Company practices. This is a terrific opportunity for an experienced business development professional with an interest in and passion for gaining more exposure to high-growth technology and life sciences companies.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with the Business Development Manager to implement strategic business plans, development initiatives, marketing strategies, and client targeting programs across M&A and Public Company practices.
  • Conduct in-depth research on markets, new business opportunities, technologies, companies, and individuals.
  • Deliver and synthesize data from the appropriate firm technologies and services, including external research databases (CRM (Salesforce), IntroHive, Intranet, Library Services, Pitchbook, Capital IQ, IPO Vital Signs, Deal Point Data, etc.)
  • Prepare and maintain compelling marketing and business development collateral, including basic and highly tailored pitch materials.
  • Support the Business Development team’s pitch tracking and reporting activities.
  • Help track and maintain key attorney matters for the experience database and manage league table reporting.
  • Coordinate with the Business Development Manager and the events team to plan and facilitate client events and seminars, including providing staffing support as needed.
  • Support firmwide marketing and business development initiatives when necessary.
  • Educate the BD team regarding relevant market trends as appropriate.
  • Partner with all functional groups in the Marketing Department and other administrative groups to plan and execute the practices’ key initiatives.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in a professional services business development function supporting transactional practices.
  • Superb analytical skills.
  • Strong customer service ethic.
  • Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Extremely detail-oriented, with superior proofreading and fact checking skills.
  • Efficient, highly organized and able to stay productive under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in the use of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and database applications.
  • Aptitude for learning new software, systems and procedures quickly.
  • Able to work independently and in team environments.
  • Self-motivated and positive attitude.
  • Strong enterprise skills and initiative to identify opportunities and act on them.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Proficient in MS Office.

The primary location for this job posting is in Palo Alto, but other locations may be listed. The actual base pay offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education, professional certifications and licenses, and work location. The anticipated pay range for this position is as follows:

San Francisco and Silicon Valley: $81,600 – $110,400 per year

Austin, Boston, Boulder, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, Seattle, and Wilmington: $73,100 – $98,900 per year

Salt Lake City and all other locations: $65,450 – $88,550 per year

The compensation for this position may include a discretionary year-end merit bonus based on performance. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package.
